The 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The Nissan Qashqai is no stranger to Europe, where it’s has a great deal of success for almost a decade now, and this year the CUV comes to North American shores. The brand-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai—pronounced ‘cash-kai’—is a crossover SUV known as being “street savvy and up for anything.” Because of intelligent technologies and a streamlined design, we expect the Qashqai to be just that. Let’s take a good look…
A Special Fit in the Lineup
This particular SUV is a small crossover vehicle, a small CUV, with an appeal to smaller families or even just couples. If you’re looking for a vehicle with versatility and cargo space for both inner and outer city life, then the Qashqai might just be for you. In terms of size, the Qashqai is right between the Nissan Juke and the Rogue, making for an all-around CUV. You’re getting 648 litres of cargo capacity or a maximum of 1,730 litres with the second-row seats folded.
A Glimpse at the Specs
Under the hood is Nissan’s standard 2.0-litre DOHC, four-cylinder, direct-injection engine. It puts out a respectable 141 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque–plenty of power for both in and out of the city. The 6-speed transmission is standard, or you can opt for the available Xtronic transmission and the Sport-Mode Shifter. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true CUV without the choice between either front- or all-wheel drive.
A Look at the Qashqai
The new Qashqai gets 3 trim levels: the S, SV, and SL. It’s also available in 10 colours, with Monarch Orange, Caspian Blue, and a vibrant Palatial Red being a few of the most notable ones.
Your new Qashqai is built to be nimble in the city with clean lines, a V-Motion grille, and an urban-looking interior. You can expect 16-inch wheels with the first two trims and 19 with the highest-level SL trim.
A Feel for the Technology
You’re getting very similar features to those with the Nissan Rogue. Ones like Siri Eyes Free, NissanConnect with navigation, Intelligent Cruise Control, and the Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection are available with the Qashqai. Additionally, leather seating, heated seats, and a remote starter are all options.
Coming Spring 2017
The new 2017 Qashqai is expected in Canada during the next few months, and you can be sure Brasso will have it ready for you here when you’re ready to take it for a test drive!
