Two fabulous women and one BIG cheque! On September 28th, 2017, Brasso’s GM, Dianne Degutis, proudly presented Patricia Irvine from the YW of Calgary with a cheque for $10,278.27! The proceeds were raised during our two biggest fundraisers of the year – 48th Anniversary Event and the Brasso Nissan & Stadium Nissan staff golf tournament. Habitat for Humanity Build
“There is a growing need for affordable home ownership solutions for families in Southern Alberta. More than 4,000 families are on the waitlist for social housing in Calgary alone.”
Each year the Brasso team looks forward to participating in the ‘Adopt-a-Day’ build. On August 11th, we spent the day in the Pineridge neighbourhood.working on three new homes for families in need. A big thank you Nissan Canada Foundation for another fabulous experience. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to make a difference in the Calgary community!
48th Anniversary Event
Giving back to the community that has supported Brasso for almost half a century is important to us. That’s why we named June as the month of giving. Partial proceeds from every vehicle sold during our Anniversary Event, as well as from two BBQs, were donated to YW Sheriff King Home crisis shelter. We are thrilled to announce we raised $4,500 for this vital organization.
“Sheltering women and their children with a safe place to begin rebuilding their lives. Many vulnerable women remain locked into a cycle of abuse because they have nowhere to go. The YW Sheriff King Home Crisis shelter is a haven for women and their children who are fleeing family violence.
The YWCA Sheriff King Home crisis shelter provides basic needs including food and personal items. On site case managers provide counselling and connect clients to resources for housing programs, legal services, and education supports. The goal of the YWCA Sheriff King Home Emergency Shelter is to provide safety and security and then to establish a transition plan to ensure safety and security can become a regular way of life.
In 2015, YW Sheriff King Home sheltered 212 women and 276 children fleeing family violence. $2,680 shelters a woman for her 21 day stay at the YW Sheriff King Home crisis shelter.”
Mustard Seed – Help Beat the Heat
Did you know that the Mustard Seed can give away up to 200 bottles of water on a really hot day? The organization gives away approximately 3,000 bottles of water a year. “People can’t imagine what a bottle of what can do for someone that’s homeless or living in poverty,” said Communications Specialist Diana Camelo in a recent interview with 660 News. At the moment, the Mustard Seed has only 300 bottles in reserve. Donations can be made at 102 11 Ave SE from 7am – 7 pm, seven days a week.
An Evening of Wine & Wishes

National Denim Day
What could be better than wearing jeans to work in support of National Denim Day on May 16, 2017? Wearing jeans to work every day! Unfortunately, that’s not possible, so Brasso staff members eagerly jumped on board to participate in this once a year event. Thank you everyone for your donations!
May 3rd is a huge milestone for McDonald’s Canada – it marks 40 years since the launch of McHappy Day, a one-day, Canadian-born event in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. We helped celebrate this momentous occasion with some McTreats of our own!

Test Drives for the Veterans’ Food Bank
Come in and test drive any Titan during the month of November and Brasso will donate $20 to the Veterans’ food bank!
The 10th annual Veterans Food Bank campaign launched this week and officials said the number of those using the service has almost doubled since last year.
“It’s been a really tough year,” said manager Marie Blackburn.
“We’ve had double our hampers go out for most of the months throughout the year, and purchasing food over and above what we normally spend has increased dramatically.”
The Veterans’ Food Bank helps people as young as 25 and up to 98 years old.
“We have a lot of young guys coming in, and one of the problems when they get out of the service is finding a job —and if they did find a job, keeping that job. With the economy the way it is, there’s been so many layoffs,” Blackburn explained.
“When they get to that point, where they don’t have enough money to pay the rent or mortgage or put food on their table, that’s when our service becomes available to help them out.”
Brasso is sponsoring Titan test drives until November 30th and is also supporting the food drive by collecting non-perishable food donations. Call now to schedule a test drive or click here
Brasso Nissan Oil Challenge
Brasso hosted two fundraisers in May to support those affected by the fire in Fort McMurray. The fire destroyed over 2,000 structures and forced more than 80,000 residents to flee. It was the largest fire-based evacuation in the history of Alberta and “one of the largest, if not the largest, in Canada.”
Between the staff BBQ and Soak Yourself in Oil Challenge, we raised $2,160. Each donation was funneled through the Nissan portal on your behalf and all funds went to the Red Cross.
Because the donations were submitted individually, the Canadian government matched each donation. That means, the money we raised was worth twice as much! A huge thank you to everyone who donated.
Why have just ONE bucket of oil poured on you when Brasso staff can pour FOUR over your head?

Brasso raises $6,030 for the YWCA Sheriff King Home emergency shelter. It rained, it hailed and the sun made a few brief appearances, but spirits weren’t dampened at our annual charity golf tournament.
The staff at Brasso and Stadium Nissan raised just over $6,000 and presented a cheque to the YWCA of Calgary on September 16, 2016. A huge thank you to our staff, suppliers and vendors for their generous contributions.
This is the third year Brass has donated to the Sheriff King Home. The shelter provides basic needs, as well as counselling, legal services and education support for women and children fleeing family violence. In 2014, YWCA Sheriff King Home sheltered 233 women and 257 children.
