The civic long weekend is finally here! Wait, did you just say... Civic long weekend? Civic? Did they really name a whole weekend after the Honda Civic?! Just when we thought that the civic couldn't get any more amazing, it did. But why would they name a whole weekend after the Honda Civic? It is because it is the best selling car in Canada for 21 years? Did you hear that? 21 whole years! That's a really long time!

The Honda Civic was first launched in 1973, as a small, but powerful, fuel-efficient subcompact. It sold 747 units in its first year. By 1997, it became the best selling car in Canada, only to maintain that title for the next 21 consecutive years. Throughout those years, the civic has won many great awards such as:

• 2006 - Best New Sports Coupe - Civic Si Coupe from AJAC
• 2006 - Canadian Car of the Year - Civic Sedan from AJAC

• 2008 - Honda Civic - Highest Ranked Compact Car in Initial Quality from JD Power

• 2013 - Honda Civic - Highest Ranked Compact Car in Initial Quality from JD Power

While all these awards sound great, and the Civic was well-deserving of all of them, these are only just a short list of all the awards it has received in Canada.
