The long weekend is finally here, meaning the Canada Day festivities are about to begin. If you're tired of doing the same old thing on Canada Day. it's time to check out some of these other things to do.
Ottawa
It should go without saying that our nation's capital is the place to be on Canada Day. It is definitely a celebration each person should experience at least once. There is live music, with a variety of notable artists performing throughout Ottawa during the long weekend. The celebrations are at Parliament Hill, Major's Hill Park and the Canadian Museum of History. There are plenty of events suitable for all ages, making it the perfect place for the whole family.
Niagara Falls
The city is hosting a number of events on July 1st, including a parade, live music, tons of food trucks and a Canada Day car show. There is nothing like seeing the fireworks over the falls.
Toronto
Toronto is never short on celebrations and events. If you plan on spending the entire weekend in the city, there are events like the Toronto Jazz Festival, Ribfest and more running throughout. For Canada Day, places like the Science Museum and the Cinesphere will be available for free for the first 500 visitors. There is never a shortage of things to do in the city.
If large celebrations and crowds aren't your thing, there's still plenty other ways to celebrate Canada Day!
Camping
There are so many fantastic campsites to check out all across Ontario. If you prefer o camp at the great lakes, there's Turkey Point, Long Point and the Pinery in Grand Bend. Algonquin Park is always an amazing place to camp as well, with beautiful landscapes, hiking trails and more if you wish to go a little more north.
BBQ
If hosting parties is more of your thing, why not invite some friends over and have a BBQ? Spending time outside with friends is the best way to enjoy the Canada Day long weekend.
